How do I go about looking for this type of dog breed I want?

Okay, so I want a dog that either is a cockapoo or one that resembles one. It doesnt even have to come with papers because Im not worried about that, i just really think there cute and I would like to own one. lol. I live right next to the human society, but i highly doubt they would have a type of dog like that just sitting up there.. My mom told me to check out the newspapers and stuff to see if they have any dogs for sale. Everyone keeps telling me to go to petfinder.com, but i really dont like that website. But how do I go about looking for a cockapoo? Ive never really looked for a particular breed before..
