What would cause me to get nauseated and dizzy after doing this?

Last week I smoked my first blunt in months with a friend. It had been a whole year and I have actually tried to stop smoking weed so that it doesn't interfere with jobs, etc... but anyways, I ended up getting really sick. I am not sure if it is because part of it was because I was in the middle of my period or what. It was just very unpleasant. Could it have been because I smoked to much all at once? Just kind of wondering. Don't get it twisted though I am not going to do it again, I was just a little bit worried.
