I cannot access my email account that I've had for years I tried the Help button but nothing works?

I'm not sure if I have the wrong password anymore I can't remember the name of the security question My favorite author How would I know if my account has been comprimised and what exactly does that mean. I have imp. email that I need access to. Please help me reset my password or something.
